Bruce Wilkinson wrote in his book, Secrets of the Vine, that our life here on earth is only a DOT compared to our life in ETERNITY (after death) & that whatever we do now, in this DOT, determines what happens in ETERNITY.
I have to ask, what is our role in eternity? What do we do there, or rather what do we do with eternity? Are we just content to be content for eternity?
You see, when God made us, He intended for us to have a loving relationship with Him & He made us to rule the world under Him.
Rule the world! What do you mean by that? The world worked perfectly well without our interference (for 599,900,000 years before we came along. Life on earth is approximately 6 million years old, so who was ruling it before we existed?). In fact in works best when we don’t interfere. So what are we meant to do we do with our Rulership and why does the world need it?
But that's not what it is now. We chose to turn against Him & try to run life our own way, without Him. God won't let us rebel forever. His punishment is death & judgement.
Punishment, death, judgment. Exactly how can a compassionate and loving God punish anyone? Punishment and Compassion are mutually exclusive. Is god compassionate, or does he punish. If he punishes, he is not compassionate and he is therefore a god and not The God.
Because of God's love, He sent His Son, Jesus. Jesus always lived under God's rule. Yet by dying in our place, He took our punishment & brought forgiveness.
Jesus died for our sins – definitely a compassionate act. Did Jesus EVER punish ANYONE? No, don’t think so. So if Jesus lived under God’s rule, God must be compassionate (like Jesus), so he’s is not able to punish anyone.
God raised Jesus again. He conquered death, now gives new life & will return to judge.
So Jesus died for our sins (thanks, appreciate it) but now he’s coming back to judge us. So he freely committed the world’s biggest act of loving compassion by dying for our sins but then comes back as our judge and sends us to hell. Is Jesus schizophrenic because these two statements “dying for our sins” and “judgment” should not exist in the same Devine being.
The choice is ours, friends - our way or God's way?
Yes the choice is OURS. Can you honestly believe in an uncompassionate God who would damn people to an eternity in hell because they happened to be born into a land where no one had heard of Jesus. That’s called punishment. Punishment is not compassion. The ability to punish someone excludes the ability to love someone and to be compassionate. So YOU CHOOSE what God is.
Our way: Reject our Maker, run life our own way.
Result: Condemned by God. Death & judgment.
Take responsibility for YOUR own actions and practice compassion to everyone regardless of race, greed or religious denomination. Result, a rather nice “heaven here on earth”.
